Obituary: James Rudy Phillips, 59, Bardstown
James Rudy Phillips, 59, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016m at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. He was born Sept. 11, 1956, in Nelson County. He worked at Ford Motor Company. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a member of First Baptist Church and American Legion Post 167. He was on the Buttermilk committee, and served on several committees at his church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Janis L. Phillips; his parents, James and Sarah Phillips; and two brothers, Louie Phillips and Edward “Connie” Phillips.
He is survived by two sons, Tuan D. Phillips and James Roman Phillips, both of Bardstown; four sisters, Mary Alice Moran, Delores Phillips, Ethel Louise Phillips, and Wanda (Cornelle) Bussey, all of Bardstown; four brothers, J.W. Phillips and the Rev. George (Brenda) Phillips, both of Bardstown, Charles Leo Phillips of South Carolina and Joseph Lee (Rita) Phillips of Louisville; eight grandchildren, Decambry J. Phillips, Ca’Mari N. Phillips, Alaysha S. Linton Phillips, Kaeliyah L. Ellis, Marilyn T. Yocum, Jyheem T. Ellis, Zada N. Phillips, Chazarri J. Phillips; one great-grandchild, Legacy D. Shearer; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at the First Baptist Church with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Smith officiating.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home, and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
