Local man indicted for allegedly having sex with underage victims

Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, 6 p.m. — A Bardstown man was indicted Wednesday on charges that he had sexual intercourse with two juveniles who were under 14 years old.
Michael D. Cornish, 19, of Bardstown, was indicted by a Nelson County grand jury on three counts each of second-degree rape and first-degree unlawful transaction with a minor under 16 years of age.
According to the indictment, between July 1, 2015 and Jan. 1, 2016, Cornish allegedly had sex twice with one juvenile victim and once with a second juvenile victim. The indictment states both victims were under 14 years of age at the time.
The indictment stems from an investigation by Bardstown Police Department Detective Jason Woodson.
Cornish will be arraigned March 3, 2016, in Nelson Circuit Court. Bail was set at $100,000 cash only, plus conditions.
