Obituary: Anna Bell Smith, 95, of Lebanon
Anna Bell Smith, 95, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016, at the Village of Lebanon. She was born Sept. 9, 1920, in Richmond. She was the owner and operator of Bob Dot Beauty Shop and a member of the Monday Study Club, Seekers in Mission Circle, Thursday and the Friday Bridge Club. She was also a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church and the Powell Chapter # 266 Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Walter “J.W.” Smith, Jr. (2007); her parents, Bert A. and Amanda Jean Stephens Van Winkle; and one granddaughter, Amanda Gwinn Sancataldo.
Survivors include five daughters, Joan Reed of Lexington, Monta Jo Smith-Awad of Lebanon, and Jerusalem, Israel, Sondra (Dick) Gwinn of Lebanon, Pam (Jim) Bruton of Fruitland Park, Fla. and Anna Lisa (Brad) Howard of Nicholasville; one brother, Deward E. “Jack” Van Winkle of Lebanon; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at the Lebanon United Methodist Church officiated by Dr. Chris Howlett with assistance from the Rev. Darren Gillespie and the Rev. Joseph Aina. Burial is in the Ryder Cemetery.
Visitation is 5-8:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home with an 8 p.m. Eastern Star service.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The Gideons International or Asbury Seminary in Wilmore.
