Obituary: Forrest James Morris, 82, Chaplin

Forrest James Morris, 82, of Chaplin, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2016, at his home. He was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Chaplin. He is the son of the late W.L. Morris and the late Francis Terrell Morris.

He was a 1952 graduate of Bloomfield High School. He taught junior high school in Marion County and retired so he could return to farming in Chaplin. He preached and taught the gospel for 47 years at Caesarea, Willisburg, Harrodsburg, Lebanon and Highview Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Rachel Rose Morris; two sisters, Virginia Ozment and Priscillia Morris; two brothers William “Bill” Morris and Jasper Morris; one grandson Titus Morris; one great-grandson Samuel Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Martha Frances Proffitt Morris; one daughter, Rebecca (finance-Wes Gilliam) Goff of Bardstown; three sons, Jimmy (Sharon) Morris of Scottsville, Steve (Renee) Morris of Lawrenceburg and Nathan (Connie) Morris of Georgetown; one sister, Margaret (Carl-deceased) Richardson of Versailles; two brothers, Raphael (Jewell) Morris of Louisville and Rollin (Betty) Morris of Shepherdsville; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at the Saffell House Funeral Home with Larry Morgan, David Lanius and Jim Hardy officiating. Burial is at Chaplin-Highview Cemetery.

Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at the Saffell House Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Trey Morris, Mackenzie Morris, Josh Morris, Coby Goff, Robbie Baker, Aaron Baker, Josh Smith and Jad Morris. Honorary Bearers will be the granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
