Obituary: Victor John Fister, 78, Bardstown
Victor John Fister, 78, of Bardstown, died Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born Aug. 17, 1937, in Lexington to the late Victor Edward and Mary McHugh Fister. He was a graduate of St. Joseph Preparatory School and Bellarmine University. He was a retired employee for the Spencer County Board of Education where he was a history teacher. He was a Kentucky Colonel, member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 1290, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Monica Ann Fister; and, and an infant brother, Joseph Fister.
He is survived by one sister, Sue (Tommie) Reed of Bardstown; one brother, Theodore G. “Ted” Fister of Louisville; three nieces; and one nephew.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Jason Harris officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, with a prayer service Monday evening.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
