Obituary: Joy Marie Evans, 76, Bardstown

Joy Marie Evans, 76, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at Norton Hospice and Palliative Care in Louisville. She was born March 26, 1939, in Nelson County to Polin and Theresa Carrico Evans. She was the former owner of Joy’s Grocery in Fairfield, and was of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Polin Evans; and one brother, Joe Evans.

She is survived by her five daughters, Donna Marie Hall of Cox’s Creek, Polin “Polly” Hall of Bardstown, Lucinda Hall (Kevin) Sanders of Cox’s Creek, Tracy Hall (Terry Wayne) Downs of Fairfield, Jeanne Hall (Tom Pat) Crepps of Cox’s Creek; one son, Billy (Lisa) Hall of Fairfield; her mother, Theresa Evans of Samuels; three sisters, Sandy (Denny) Adams of Cox’s Creek, Peggy (Al Naggy) Evans-Naggy of Florida, and Terri (Bill) Osbourne of Bardstown; three brothers, Martin Evans of Bardstown, Craig (Vicki) Evans, and Michael (Kim) Evans of Cox’s Creek; 11 grandchildren, Clint Downs, Derek Sanders, Amber Hartell, Josh Allen, Luke Durbin, Blake Durbin, Johnathan VanVactor, Maggie Crepps, Basil Sanders, Gracie Crepps, and Kellie Hall; two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Hartell and Boen Hartell; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is noon Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road with the Rev. Jason Harris officiating. Burial is in the St. Gregory Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
