Obituary: John Edward Wheatley, 82, Howardstown

JOHN EDWARD WHEATLY

John Edward Wheatley, 82, of Howardstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016. He was a retired employee of Western Union Telegraph, a full-time farmer since 1986, a lifetime member of the National Farmers Organization, a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clara Jean Boone Wheatley; three sisters, Gail Tackett (Edwin), Joyce Marks (Melvin), and Ann Marie Pearson; three brothers, David (Peggy) Wheatley, Mike (Terry) Wheatley, and Hal Wheatley; several nieces and nephews; and special friend and farm manager, Mark Underwood.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown with the Rev. Kenneth Fortner officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven with a 6 p.m. prayer vigil.
