Obituary: Ernest Eugene ‘Gene’ Conley, 89, Bardstown

Ernest Eugene “Gene” Conley, 89, of Bardstown, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2016, in Bardstown. He was born Jan. 30, 1927, to the late Benjamin Harrison and Bertha Mae Barnett Conley. He was retired from the U.S. Treasury Department, a WWII Army veteran, a member of American Legion funeral_flowerPost #288 and a member of Bardstown Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Catherine Conley; one daughter, Sandra Amien; two sisters, Irene LeMaster and Mary Snider; and six brothers, Charles Conley, Harry Conley Jr., Warren Conley, Don Conley, Arnold Conley and Gerald Conley.

He is survived by one stepdaughter, Debbie Dean of Phoenix, Ariz.; a special nephew, John Snider of Bardstown; one sister in-law, Mary Conley of Bardstown; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Imogene LeMaster Cain of Nashville.

The family followed his wishes for cremation. A service will be held at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery.
