Obituary: William Eugene ‘Bill’ Clark, 82, St. Francis
William Eugene “Bill” Clark, 82, of St. Francis, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at his residence. He was born Oct. 14, 1933, in New Haven. He was a farmer and retired employee of Barton Brands Distillery in Bardstown. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the Loretto Sportsman’s Club. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of American Legion Post 121. He was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie Andrew Clark Sr. and Mary Pauline Hall Clark; one infant sister, Mary Beth Clark; two brothers, Archie Clark Jr. and infant Rocco Clark.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Martha Downs Clark; five daughters, Nadine Thompson (John) of Lawrenceburg, Colleen Spalding (Joe) and Paulette Clark both of Lebanon, Rebecca Greenwell (Joey) of Bardstown and June Hartman (Kevin) of Cox’s Creek; two sons, Mark Clark (Lou Ann) of Lawrenceburg and Lee Clark (Debbie) of St. Francis; two sisters, Joane Howell (Jim) of Hodgenville and Patsy Oldham (Bob) of Louisville; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, St. Francis with the Rev. Emil Kander officiating. Burial is in the St. Catherine Cemetery in New Haven where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a 6 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Logan Clark, Frank Spalding, Travis Thompson, Tyler Clark, Kyle Clark, Ryan Clark and Clark Spalding.
