Obituary: Robert G. Harned, 93, Lebanon Junction
Robert G. Harned, 93, of Lebanon Junction, died Friday, March 11, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 21, 1922, on the farm outside of Lebanon Junction and died in the same house.
He attended school in a one-room school house on the family farm and graduated from Lebanon Junction High School in 1941. He served his country during World War II and was stationed in England with the 392nd Bomber Group of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
After the war, Dad attended the University of Kentucky, graduating in 1949. He remained a loyal UK fan. Dad returned to the farm and married the love of his live, Ida Jane Lueddecke in June 1957. They started Bullitt County Feeders Supply in Shepherdsville in 1959.
He was very involved in the agriculture community and in service to the community. He could be found serving in Bullitt County for many years on the following boards: Farm Bureau Directors, Conservation District, Fair, Planning and Zoning, and Health. He was also a member of the Kentucky Home Pork Producers, Shepherdsville Lion’s Club and the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Junction.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years; two sisters; and one grandson.
He is survived by five children; one sister; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at the First Baptist Church of Lebanon Junction. Burial is in the Lebanon Junction Cemetery.
Visitation is 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction
