City police called to food mart over possible quick-change incident

Thursday, May 12, 2011, 7:04 p.m. — The Bardstown Police were called to the Five Star Food Mart, 1855 New Haven Rd., for a report of a possible counterfeit bill. What police found was that the store may have been the victim of a quick-change scam in which a small item is paid for using a large bill, and then the clerk is distracted with multiple requests for the bills for the resulting change in order to allow the perpetrators to pocket some of the money. Police are searching for a 2005 black Chevrolet Suburban SUV with Tennessee license plates for questioning in this investigation.
