Bloomfield man, son, face drug charges connected to December stabbing death

Thursday, March 17, 2016, 11:49 p.m. — A Bloomfield man and his son were indicted Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury on drug charges stemming from the investigation of the Dec. 1, 2015, stabbing death of a Bardstown man.
Terry K. Roberts, 54, and Alexander Cole Roberts, 18, both of Bloomfield, were indicted on charges that include tampering with physical evidence; trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces); possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possession of several firearms while the offenses were committed.
According to the indictment, on Dec. 1, 2015, Terry K. Roberts and Alexander C. Roberts — acting alone or in concert with one another — are alleged to have been in possession of drug paraphernalia and less than 8 ounces of marijuana. The indictment alleges the men acted alone or together and attempted get rid of the marijuana by flushing it down the toilet. The firearms charge is an enhancement that can lead to a harsher sentence if either is convicted.
Tampering with physical evidence is a Class D felony, punishable by 1 to 5 years in prison. The trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces) and drug paraphernalia charges are Class A misdemeanors, punishable by up to one year in jail. Possession of marijuana is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by up to 45 days in jail.
The indictment is part of an investigation that began with the Dec. 1, 2015, murder of an 18-year-old Bardstown man in front of the Bloomfield Post Office.
On Dec. 3, Alexander C. Roberts was indicted on a murder charge in connection with the stabbing death of Rasheed Javon Wickliffe in what police described at the time as a “drug deal gone wrong.” His trial on those charges is pending.
Terry K. Roberts and Alexander Cole Roberts are scheduled to be arraigned in Nelson Circuit Court on Thursday, April 7. According to the indictment, bail will be set at their arraignment.
