Thursday, March 24, 2016, 10 p.m. — The Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown is warning area residents to be aware of a telephone fundraising scam by individuals saying they are calling on behalf of the KSP.
According to a press release, the KSP has not entered into any agreement with any fundraising organizations and has never solicited money over the phone.
We have received reports in the last few days that citizens are receiving these calls. Anyone who receives a suspicious call from someone wanting credit card or bank account information for a charitable donation should never give this info over the phone. We advise asking whomever you are speaking with to send you literature by mail to your residence for your review.
If you would like to donate to a worthy cause in support of the Kentucky State Police, we ask that you consider KSP Trooper Island Camp as well as the Trooper Joseph Cameron Ponder Memorial Fund.
