Obituary: Sister Marie Dolorosa Simones, 90, Nerinx
SISTER MARIE DOLOROSA SIMONES
Sister Marie Dolorosa Simones, 90, of Nerinx, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at the Loretto Motherhouse Infirmary. She was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Dubuque, Iowa to the late Joseph P. and Florence Hagge Simones.
She entered religious life in 1948 and received her final vows August 15, 1954. She attended A.B. Loretto Heights College in Denver, Colo. where she majored in history. She also attended the University of Notre Dame majoring in elementary education. Her assignments were in Missouri, Virginia and Colorado. She also taught locally at St. Augustine School in Lebanon in 1961. She retired to the Loretto Motherhouse in 2009.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016, at the Loretto Motherhouse Church with burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
A wake will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Motherhouse.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
