ALTON CROWE TURPIN

Alton Crowe Turpin, 83, of Lebanon, died Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born Feb. 15, 1933, in Bradfordsville. He was a retired insurance and real estate broker with Ackie George Realty and the former operator of the old Turpin Furniture and Appliance Company in Lebanon. He was a Korean Era veteran of the U.S. Army, a 32nd degree Mason, past president of the Lebanon Optimist Club and a member of Lebanon Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean Rodgers Turpin; his parents, Altha Clinton and Nora Averitt Devers Turpin; one sister, Maxine Yowell; three brothers, Melvin Turpin, Don Turpin and Talamage Turpin.

Survivors include two daughters, Karen Russell (Bob) of Lebanon and Kathy Williams (Jeff) of Campbellsville; four grandchildren, Tiffany Turpin, Haley Dile, Johnathon Turpin and Alic Williams; one great-grandson, Ronnie “R.J.” Jewell; and a special friend, Jessie Mattingly.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with Bro. Alvin Wren officiating. Burial is in the Old Liberty Cemetery in Bradfordsville where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Randy Turpin, Tommy Farris, Tom Farris, Johnathon Turpin, Jerry Dixon and Justin Immerso. Honorary Pallbearers are his grandchildren.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
