Bardstown woman injured Tuesday when struck by car on KY 245

Tuesday, March 29, 2016, 3 a.m. — A Bardstown woman was injured early Tuesday morning when she was struck by a vehicle while walking along KY 245 between Templin Avenue and Thomas Nelson High School. At 2:32 a.m., Nelson County EMS, Bardstown Fire and Bardstown Police were dispatched for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. Casey Coombs, 33, was located and EMS transported her directly to University Hospital in Louisville for multiple injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was James H. Simpson, 66, of Louisville. Simpson told police he was driving down KY 245 when he saw Coombs walking on the white line when she was struck by the side of his vehicle, tearing off one of the side view mirrors
No charges have been filed, and police continue to investigate the accident.
