Obituary: James Aloysius Miles, 80, Lebanon

James Aloysius Miles, 80 of Lebanon, died Monday, March 28, 2016, at UK Medical Center in Lexington. He was born Dec. 16, 1935, in St. Francis to the late Mae and Earl Miles. He formerly worked at Belknap and was a USPS Postal Carrier. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years of funeral_doveservice.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emelda Miles; one sister, Martha Nell Dant; and six brothers, Woodrow Miles, Eric Miles, Tim Miles, Tommy Miles, J.E. Miles and Stanley Miles.

Survivors include three sons, Rickey Miles (Shelly) of Lexington, Ind., Gregory Miles (Donna) of Louisville and Rick Whitfill of Ghent; one sister, Doris Ann Phenis; three brothers, Joe Miles, Ronnie Miles and Ardine Miles; and three grandchildren, Christopher Miles, Jessa Miles and Olivia Miles.

The funeral is 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. His nephew, Deacon Joseph R. Dant will officiate. Burial is in the Lebanon National Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 9 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.
