Obituary: Robert Leon ‘Buddy’ Cecil, 89, formerly of Howardstown

Robert Leon “Buddy” Cecil, 89, of Clarksville, Ind., formerly of Howardstown, died Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Ind. He was born Aug. 15, 1926, the son of the late Robert Andrew and Anna Marie Woods Cecil.

funeral_doveHe was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. He retired from the Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Louisville after 35 yeas of service.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Cecil, Marvin Cecil, Albert Cecil, Fred Cecil and Bob Cecil.

Survivors include two sisters, Jean (Jackie) French of Hodgenville and Sr. Marie Carol Cecil of Maple Mount St. Joseph; three brothers, Sam (Margo) Cecil of Louisville; LeRoy Cecil of New Haven, and Tommy (Lois Ann) Cecil of Howardstown; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Howardstown with the Rev. Ken Fortner officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel with a prayer service Tuesday evening.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Ann School or the St. Ann Cemetery Fund, 7500 Howardstown Road, Howardstown, KY 40051.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home Hodgenville Chapel, 612 N. Lincoln Blvd, Hodgenville, is in charge of the arrangements.
