One person dead, 3 injured in Wednesday morning crash at US31E and KY 509

April 6, 2016, 4 p.m. UPDATED 5 p.m. — One person died and three were injured — one critically — in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning at the intersection of US31E, the Louisville Road and KY 509.
Police, Nelson County EMS were dispatched at 10:28 a.m. for the injury accident with possible entrapment of the accident victims. Nelson County Fire & Rescue responded to assist with getting victims freed from the vehicles.
A male victim described as a man about 70 years old was transported by EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. A second seriously injured accident victims was flown from the scene by helicopter to University Hospital.
EMS transported two men, ages 27 and 39, to Flaget with non life-threatening injuries.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the crash. Louisville Road was closed for a time during the accident investigation.
