Bardstown Police say that Darnell Maurice McGee, 28, of Louisville, was arrested in Louisville by Louisville Metro Police.

The arrest comes after Bardstown Police identified McGee as a suspect in a shooting incident that took place Tuesday afternoon near Hardee’s restaurant in the 700 block of North Third Street. That incident left a man with a gunshot wound to the thigh. Multiple witnesses reported seeing a man matching McGee’s description fleeing the scene on foot.

Tuesday night, police had an arrest warrant for McGee, charging him with attempted murder, wanton endangerment, second-degree criminal mischief and three counts of discharging a firearm in the city limits.

In addition to shooting and injuring the victim, McGee is also believed to have been responsible for a bullet that shot through one of the front windows of Fisher Auto Parts located across the street from Hardee’s.

In a social media post late Wednesday night, Bardstown Police Chief Rick McCubbin praised the work of this detectives in their efforts to identify the alleged gunman.
