Louisville man indicted Wednesday for alleged February burglaries

Thursday, April 7, 2016, 9 a.m. — A Louisville man was indicted by a Nelson County grand jury Wednesday, April 6, 2016, for a series of burglaries he allegedly committed in the Bardstown area.

indictmentRobert Poppe, 50, of Louisville, was indicted for allegedly breaking into three different businesses between Feb. 12 and Feb 15.

According to the indictment, between Feb. 12 and 13, Poppe allegedly entered Shoe Sensation, 231 Kentucky Home Square, and took more than $500 in cash but less than $10,000. The indictment also alleges he caused more than $1,000 in damage at the business.

In the same time period, Poppe allegedly entered Great Clips in the Wilson & Muir Plaza and took less than $500. He allegedly caused more than $500 in damage in the process.

Poppe is also alleged to have entered the Dollar General Store with the intent to commit a crime on Feb. 15, 2016.

Each indictment also cites Poppe’s prior felony convictions as basis for persistent felony offender charges. Bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions.

Poppe will be arraigned in Nelson Circuit Court on April 21, 2016.
