Copper thieves strike power substation twice in less than 2 weeks
Friday, May 13, 2011, 4 p.m. — An East Kentucky Power electrical substation has been hit by copper thieves twice in less than two weeks. A Salt River Electric lineman was at the substation Friday afternoon about 3:45 p.m. and reported that thieves cut through the fence around the substation, cut all the copper ground wiring and removed it. A deputy with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the site to take a report.
