Obituary: Joseph Edward ‘Joe Eddie’ Mouser, 96, New Haven
Joseph Edward “Joe Eddie” Mouser, 96, of New Haven, died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was born Sept. 24, 1919 to the late Adrian and Mary Alice Boone Mouser.
He served 17 years as a magistrate on Nelson Fiscal Court. He and his wife owned and operated Mouser’s Liquors in New Haven. He farmed most all his life. He, his wife and family also owned and operated the Big Store in New Haven. He was a life-long member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Alice Mouser, Phoebe Williams and Josephine Spalding; one grandson, Gerald Mouser; and one granddaughter, Kayla Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Martha Francis “Frankie” Bowling Mouser of New Haven; five daughters, Lois Ann (Tommy) Cecil of Howardstown, Anita (Joe) Moore and Celie (Johnny) Sims, both of Louisville, Jeaneane (J.H.) Thompson of New Hope, and Fran (John Wayne) Brown of New Haven; 11 sons, Tommy Mouser, Chad (Ann) Mouser, Marvin Mouser, Mike (Karen) Mouser, Wally Mouser and Garland Mouser and Guy (Connie) Mouser, all of New Haven, Don (Letha) Mouser, Errol (Johyne) Mouser and Bernie (Kim) Mouser, all of Bardstown, and Robert (Melanie) Mouser of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; two brothers, Barney Mouser of Howardstown, and Johnny Mouser of New Haven; several brothers and sisters-in-law; 33 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Ken Fortner and Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, and 8:30-11 a.m. Thursday at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 North Main St., New Haven. A prayer services is 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations go to the St. Catherine Cemetery Fund, First Street, New Haven, 400051, or the St. Ann School, 7500 Howardstown Road, Howardstown, 40051.
