No students injured in school bus accident Tuesday on Gap Knob Rd.

Tuesday, April 12, 2016, 11 a.m. (UPDATED 1 p.m.) — A Nelson County School bus was involved in an injury accident Tuesday morning before 7 a.m.
Nelson County EMS, the New Hope Fire Department and Nelson County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched at about 6:48 a.m. for a two-vehicle crash involving a school bus south of the community of New Hope on Gap Knob Road near its intersection with Coon Hollow Road.
According to Anthony Orr, superintendent of Nelson County Schools, there were 10 children on the bus, none of whom were injured. The car involved hit the rear driver’s side tire rim of the bus before it left the roadway and into some trees.
EMS transported a 26-year-old woman to Flaget Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The students were transferred to other buses to complete their trip to their respective schools, and students waiting for rides on the bus were picked up by other buses.
The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident.
