Obituary: Richard Alexander ‘Alex’ Hensley, 17, Willisburg

RICHARD ALEXANDER “ALEX” HENSLEY

Richard Alexander “Alex” Hensley, 17, of Willisburg, died Friday, April 8, 2016, in Nelson County near Fredericktown due to injuries sustained in an automobile collision. He was born on Jan. 5, 1999, in Stanford. He was a junior at the Washington County High School and an employee of Wendy’s of Springfield. His passion was restoring old hot rod cars, working alongside his father in their shop where Alex had his own paint room. Over the past few years together they had restored nearly 40 cars.

Preceding him in death was his maternal grandfather, Garry Hart.

Survivors include his parents, Gabriel and Sandy Hart Hensley; one sister, Kirsten Hensley of Willisburg; his maternal grandmother, Dora Sue Hart of Stanford; paternal grandparents, Gary and Catherine Huffman of Stanford and Richard and Darlene Hensley of Whitley City; and his girlfriend, Cassie Edwards of Springfield.

The funeral was Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the River of Life Church with the Rev. J.W. Hatfield, pastor of the Willisburg Baptist Church, officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Troy Shelton, pastor of the River of Life Church.

Serving as pallbearers were Tony Hart, Bryan Hart, Scotty Hensley, Charles Hensley, Cody Hensley and Dalton Sebastian.

Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield was in charge of arrangements.
