Obituary: Ella Frances ‘Cubby’ Porter Barnes, 78, Lebanon
Ella Frances “Cubby” Porter Barnes, 78, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Cedars of Lebanon. She was born Nov. 3, 1937, in Lebanon. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked as a caregiver. She was an avid University of Louisville Cardinal fan.
Her family would like to thank Elizabeth Douglas for the care and friendship she gave their mother for many years. Elizabeth’s help has been a blessing. Also, the family wishes to thank Cedars of Lebanon for the care they gave their mother. They are greatly appreciative of their help.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Francis, Sr. and Amelia Frances King Porter; two sisters, Elizabeth Spalding and Evelyn Porter; one son, Anthony Porter; and one brother, Frank Porter, Jr.
Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Carol “Sister” Porter of Lebanon; six sons, Melvin Jerome “Pie” (Jeanette) Porter of Campbellsville, William Frances “Big Hand” Porter of Bardstown, James Thomas “Mert” Porter of Campbellsville, Johnny Rodell “Red” Porter of Lebanon, Joseph Aloysius “Joey” Porter, Louisville, Darrell Eugene “Pro” Porter of Frankfort; three sisters, Carolyn Jane Graves, Shirley Ann Wright and Beverly Sue Flowers, all of Louisville; two brothers, Thomas T. Porter and Jerry A. Porter, both of Louisville; one sister-in-law, Sheila Weaver; three brothers-in-law, John T. Spaulding, Jimmy Wright and Bill Washington; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a special friend, Elizabeth Douglas; and a special daughter-in-law, Sandy Martin.
The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, at Lebanon Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Tommy Calhoun. Burial is in the St. Charles Church Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bosley Funeral Home.
