Obituary: Laura Jean Nalley, 89, Saint Francis
Laura Jean Nalley, 89, of Saint Francis, died Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Village of Lebanon Nursing Home. She was born April 5, 1927, in Saint Mary’s to the late James Arthur and Georgiana Mattingly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Harry Nalley; one infant daughter, Laura Ann Nalley; three sons, Joseph Harry Nalley, Jr., Robert Stephen Nalley and Michael Troy Nalley; six sisters, Mary Ollie Smith, Della Wendell, Nettie Fields, Nanny Rose Blair, Frances Stubbs and Ann Wheatley; five brothers, Bert Mattingly, Pete Mattingly, Sim Mattingly, James Arthur Mattingly, Jr. and Francis Emanuel “Baz” Mattingly; two grandsons; and one great-grandson.
Survivors include one daughter, Karen Thompson (Jerry) of Lebanon; five sons; Bernie Nalley (Cindi) of Shepherdsville, and Donnie Nalley (Karen), John Nalley (Cindy), Greg Nalley and Keith Nalley (Krista), all of Saint Francis; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. April 18, 2016, at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6785 Highway 52, Loretto, with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Emil Kander officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
Pallbearers are her sons and her nephew, Jimmy Richards.
Honorary Pallbearers are her grandsons, Joe Mike Nalley, Derek Nalley, Steve Nalley, Andrew Nalley, Patrick Nalley, Christopher Nalley, Adam Nalley, Alex Nalley, Logan Nalley, Landon Nalley, Justin Thompson and Tyler Thompson.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
