MARY JOSEPHINE HILL

Mary Josephine Hill, 90, of Springfield, died Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at her daughter’s residence in Bardstown. She was born April 19, 1926, in Washington County. She was a former homemaker and lunchroom attendant at Washington County Public Schools. She was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Manton. She was a beloved mother with a giving heart, tirelessly visiting the sick and homebound. She enjoyed quilting, attending auctions and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Raymond Hill; her parents, Emmett Marcellus and Frances Carrie Newton Hill; two sisters, Kathleen Hamilton and Sr. Theresina Greenwell; and two brothers, J.T. Greenwell and Junie Greenwell.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Reed (Tommy), Frieda Hutchins (Bruce) and Michelle Boren, all of Bardstown; nine sons, Mike Hill (Carol), Frankie Hill (Sherry) and Martin Hill (Sharon), all of Bardstown, Ronnie Hill (Pam), Freddie Hill, Bobby (Colette) and Bill Hill, all of Springfield, Johnny Hill (Lillie) and Dave Hill (Debra), both of Loretto; two sisters, Marilyn Jean Hill of Louisville and Mary Ursula Wagner of Selinsgrove, Penn.; 39 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and two on the way; and one great-great granddaughter.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, at St. Rose Priory Church, 868 Loretto Road, Springfield with the Rev. Kevin McGrath and the Rev. Matthew Hardesty concelebrating. Burial is in the Holy Rosary Cemetery at Manton.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
