Obituary: Phillip W. Ashley, 85, Wilmore

Phillip W. Ashley, 85, of Wilmore, died Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at his home. He lived at Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore for the last two years of his life. He was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Hardin County to the late Agnes and Ewing Ash. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 as funeral_flowera truck driver in Germany. He loved science and reading books as well as nature and walking through the woods.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, J.B. Ash, Raymond Ash and Joe Ash; and one sister, Marcella Pendleton.

Survivors include one sister, Veronica Rose Hill (John) of Bloomfield; four brothers, Al Ash, Don Ash, Bert Ash (Carol) and Ed Ash, all of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016, at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Lebanon Junction with the Rev. Brian Kenney officiating.

Burial is 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction.

The Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
