Obituary: Joyce Eudora Hill-Bland, 61, Louisville
Joyce Eudora Hill-Bland, 61, of Louisville, died Thursday, May 19, 2016, in Atlanta.
She was born July 28, 1954, in Danville to the late George Tyler Hill and late Bernice Harding Hill-Logan. Upon graduating from Shawnee High School in Louisville in 1972, Joyce attended Jefferson Community College where she obtained an associate’s degree in business. She later married her first love, Clearance Bland. She continued her career in banking for more than 20 years and proceeded to work at Stewarts Pawn Shop in Louisville until her death.
She accepted Christ as her personal savior early in her childhood and always trusted and believed in God. She devoted her ministry to Emanuel Baptist Church in Louisville earlier in her life and then transferred to Lanier Memorial Baptist Church where she remained a member until her passing.
She was a phenomenal woman who touched everyone she encountered in her own personal way. Whether she helped picked out your engagement ring, ensured you got the best deal for your money, fed you, gave you a ride, offered a warm hug or just gave you friendly spiritual advice and encouragement, she was always there to give a hand.
She was a passionate mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, co-worker, leader, niece, cousin and child of God. She was loved by all. She enjoyed traveling, riding motorcycles and most of all hanging in the park with her girls and later on, her grandchildren. She was a strong woman and fought to the end.
She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George T Hill and Bernice Harding Hill- Logan; and two brothers, George T Hill Jr and Roy Hill.
She leaves to cherish her memory with unconditional love two daughters, Olivia Hill- Blackburn and Lakeisha Bland; one sister, Denise Hill; two brothers, Don Hill and Dewayne Logan; eight grandchildren, Danasha Smith, Leo Blackburn Jr., Kamaria Harkness, Corey Harkness Jr., Diamond Clark, Larry Clark III, MaKayla Bland and Ke’Shawn Potter; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
