Roland ‘Coach Roe’ Williams is first incumbent to file for city council

Wednesday, May 25, 2016, 1 p.m. — Roland “Coach Roe” Williams on Wednesday became the first sitting member of the Bardstown City Council to file for re-election.

Williams, 68, a resident of Elmcrest Drive, is the tenth person to file for one of the six city council seats. Williams was also the first incumbent member of the council to file for re-election in 2014.

Williams has served on the council since 2008.

Other candidates who have filed to run for city council include:

  • former Bardstown Mayor Bill Sheckles;
  • Richard Nest;
  • Franklin Thompson;
  • former Mayor Dick Heaton;
  • former County Attorney John Kelley;
  • David C. Dones;
  • David Erickson;
  • Sean Ralston, and;
  • Michael Johnson.

The filing deadline to be a candidate for city council or other non-partisan local office on the Nov. 8, 2016, ballot is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9.
