Obituary: Owen Foster, 97, Louisville

Owen Foster, 97, of Louisville, died Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Baptist Healthcare in Louisville. He was born Dec. 24, 1918, in Washington County to the late Harry and Sallie Jane Beavers Foster. He was a retired employee of Cave Hill Cemetery, an U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a lifetime member of the VFW, and a member of Bloomfield Baptist Church.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Foster; two sisters, Louise Cheatham and Edith Foster; and three brothers, Merritt Foster, Carl Foster, and James Foster.

He is survived by four 4 daughters, Jacqueline (Doug) Taylor and Carolyn (John) McCubbins, both of Bloomfield, Lynda (Ted) Terrell of Finchville and Sharon (Jeff) Glynn of Las Vegas; two sons, Lorane Foster of Louisville and Owen Lloyd Foster of Taylorsville; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Jim Hitt will officiating. Burial is in the Highland Memory Garden in Mount Washington.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, May 30, 2016, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
