Riggs files as 13th candidate for a seat on Bardstown City Council

Wednesday, June 1, 2016, 2 p.m. — Freddy Riggs is the latest candidate to file for a seat on the Bardstown City Council.
Riggs, 61, is a resident of Madison Avenue. He and his wife Becky are pastors at Faith Worship Center in Bardstown, a church they started in 1994.
So far, a total of 13 candidates have filed for one of the six council seats. The other candidates who have filed in addition to Riggs include:
- Francis Lydian (incumbent);
- Roland “Coach Roe” Williams (incumbent);
- former Mayor Bill Sheckles;
- Richard Nest;
- Franklin Thompson;
- former Mayor Dick Heaton;
- former County Attorney John Kelley;
- David C. Dones;
- David Erickson;
- Sean Ralston;
- Michael Johnson.
The filing deadline to be a candidate for city council or other non-partisan local office on the Nov. 8, 2016, ballot is 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9.
