Joseph Eugene Ritchie, 62, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, June 2, 2016, at his residence. He was born Sept. 25, 1953, in Nelson County. He was a maintenance supervisor at the Abbey of Gethsemani.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Cecilia Ritchie; three sisters, Patsy Silloway, Libby Johnson and Mary Lou Mudd; three brothers, Roy Lee Ritchie, Jr, Jack Ritchie and Ernie Ritchie.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ann Ritchie of Bloomfield; one daughter, Cindy Lee Riney; one son, Brian Scott Ritchie; two sisters, Catherine “Chatty” Crume of Bloomfield and Saundra Nix of Boston; one brother, Lawrence Ritchie of Indiana; two grandchildren, Evyn Riney and Layne Riney, both of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews.
A prayer service is 7 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home with a private burial at a later date at the Abbey of Gethsemani Cemetery.
Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
