Obituary: William Wayne Thompson Sr, 63, Bardstown
William Wayne Thompson Sr, 63, of Bardstown, died Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Robley Rex VA Hospital in Louisville. He was born Dec. 14, 1952, to the late William Ruben Thompson and Elizabeth Ann Howard Thompson Shipp. He was a self-employed contractor, a veteran of U.S. Army, a member and past president of Eagles Post 2173 and a member of the Catholic faith.
He was preceded in death by twins Vanessa Thompson and Tim Thompson; and one brother, James Curtis Shipp.
He is survived by his wife: Betty Louise Sauer Thompson; two daughters, Tiffany Nicole Thompson and Ammie Davis; three sons, William W. Thompson II, John P. Thompson and Gerald W. Zirnheld; one sister, Vickie Shipp; seven brothers, Jerry Thompson, Randy Thompson, Johnny Thompson, Steve Thompson, Charles Shipp, Kenny Shipp and Gary Shipp; 18 grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Maurice Hayes officiating. Burial is in the Bardstown Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road.
