Obituary: Wilma ‘Shorty’ Gritton, 87, Bloomfield

WILMA “SHORTY” GRITTON

Wilma “Shorty” Gritton, 87, of Bloomfield, died Thursday, June 9, 2016 at her residence. She was born Jan. 15, 1929, to the late Frankie Lee and Nora Thomas Whitehouse. She was a former clerk at the old Wright’s and Stewart & Sils clothing store in Bloomfield, and was a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Gritton; one son, Michael “Mike” Gritton; one sister; and two brothers.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Gritton of Bloomfield; one son, Eddie (Penny) Gritton of Bloomfield; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Leland Parks officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Nelson County Humane Society.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
