Monday, June 13, 2016, 12:20 p.m. — A single-vehicle crash Monday morning at about 5 a.m. claimed the life of a Chaplin man. The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office reports that Charles Chesser, 79, was driving west on Chaplin Road in Bloomfield when his vehicle crossed the intersection onto Fairfield Hill Road and struck a fire hydrant before hitting the old Post Office building, causing heavy damage to both the vehicle and the building.
Chesser was pronounced dead at the scene by the Nelson County Coroner. Police say they believe Chesser may have had a medical emergency while he was driving.
