One person dies In Tuesday morning parkway crash involving semi, mini-van

Tuesday, June 14, 2016, 9:20 a.m. (UPDATED 11:04 a.m.)– A fatal crash involving a mini-van and a semi tractor-trailer closed both lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway at the Boston exit for a time Tuesday morning.
At 7:19 a.m., Nelson County EMS, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and the Boston Fire Department were dispatched for an injury accident involving a semi tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle. One person died on the scene and another victim suffered severe injuries when ejected from a vehicle.
The severely injured patient was flown from the scene to University Hospital. At least two other injured victims were transported by EMS to Hardin Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Traffic was re-routed around the crash via Boston Road while the parkway was closed. One lane in both directions was reopened at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
SECOND INJURY ACCIDENT. While police were still at the crash scene, a second accident took place near the 11-1/2 mile marker. EMS was dispatched to area for one possible victim with complaints of back pain. EMS transported one person to Hardin Memorial Hospital and two people refused transport by EMS.
New Haven Police Chief Kenny Holbert assisted first-responders with the accident investigation.
