Obituary: Arthur Lee Norris, 88, Holy Cross

Arthur Lee Norris, 88, of Holy Cross, died Friday, June 17, 2016, at his residence. He was born April 25, 1928, in Nelson County. He was a farmer, a retired employee of Barton Brands Distillery in Bardstown and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Agnes Donahue Norris; one daughter, Janice Ann Norris; three brothers, William Norris, Ernest Norris and Bernard Norris; three sisters, Mary Delina DeWitt, Catherine Smith and Lillian Johnson; one daughter-in-law, Lynette Norris; and one son-in-law, Jerry Smothers.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 70 years, Mary Estelle Stillwell Norris; four daughters, Laverne Bowman (John) of Borden, Ind., Mary Agnes Rue of Clarksville, Ind., Debbie Smothers of Lebanon and Sarah Clark (Steve) of Lancaster; eight sons, Kenneth Lee Norris and Louis Norris, both of Holy Cross, Larry Norris (Terri) and Robert David Norris (Robin), both of Lebanon, Daniel Norris (Ann) of Elizabethtown, Henry Norris (Joyce) of Nabb, Ind., Charles Norris (Kim) of Paint Lick and Jeff Norris (Clarice) of Loretto; one sister, Mary Lee Miller of Louisville; and one brother, Russell Norris (Joyce) of Springfield.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Loretto with the Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

The Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
