MARY GERTRUDE HUGHES O’BRYAN

Mary Gertrude Hughes O’Bryan, 93, of Armory Hill, Springfield, died at 9:50 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at the University Hospital in Louisville. She was a native of Marion County and was born July 27, 1922, to the late Elmer and Imelda Brady Hughes. She was a member of the St. Dominic Catholic Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Foster O’Bryan on May 8, 1988; one sister, Nora Hardinger; and six brothers, Chub Hughes, Pat Hughes, Joe Hughes, Rob Hughes, Gregory Hughes and Thomas Hughes.

Survivors include one daughter, Gail Jarboe (Gary) of Springfield; three sons, Roger O’Bryan (Cosma) of Louisville, Tony O’Bryan (Lucy) of Bardstown and Paul O’Bryan (Mary Jane) of Springfield; two sisters, Catherine Childers of Lebanon and Delana Cocanougher (Sonny) of Perryville; one brother, Lambert “Nub” Hughes of Lebanon; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a close friend, Brenda Elliott of Lebanon Junction.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25. 2016, at St. Dominic Catholic Church with the Rev. Kevin McGrath, pastor of the St. Rose Catholic Church, officiating. Burial is in the St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, at Carey & Son Funeral Home in Springfield with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friday evening.

Pallbearers are Bryan Cocanougher, Jim O’Bryan, Gary Jarboe, Chad Kirsch, Ricky Satterly and Joey Cocanougher.

The Carey & Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
