Obituary: Bettie Rose Kappel Ratliff, 77, Boston

Bettie Rose Kappel Ratliff, 77, of Boston, died Monday, June 27, 2016. She was a native of Lebanon Junction, a housewife and a homemaker. She was a Baptist by faith. Her favorite hobbies included genealogy research and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Dorothy Stopher Kappel; one sister, Brenda Kaye Kappel; and two brothers, Jackie Kappel and Charlie Kappel.

Survivors include her husband, Clyde Lee Ratliff; four daughters, Cindy Burton (Lloyd), Kaye Simpson (Harry), Brenda Downs (Mike) and Vickie Ratliff; two sons, Terry Ratliff (Rhonda) and Todd Ratliff; seven sisters, Helen Embry, Peggy Ferguson (Isaac), Sue Newton (Billy), Linda Price (Victor), Martha Coyle (Billy), Janet Dones (Steve) and Lillian Hutchins (Mike); two brothers, Wayne Kappel (Susan) and Ricky Kappel (Ann); 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Liberty Church, 462 Liberty Church Road, Patrick Springs, Va. with Dr. J.D. Harmon officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction and noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the church. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Isaac Ferguson officiating.

Honorary pallbearers are Alex Ratliff, Jonathan Easter, Kyle Simpson, Eric Simpson, Jason Downs, Brandon Downs, Chris Ratliff and Timothy John Ratliff.

The Kappel Funeral Home in Lebanon Junction is in charge of the arrangements.
