Obituary: Deacon Joe Filiatreau, 73, Bardstown
Deacon Joe Filiatreau, 73, of Bardstown, died Monday June 27, 2016, at Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. He was born Sept. 20, 1942, in Bardstown. He was the retired owner of Joe Filiatreau Floor Covering, a member of Knights of Columbus and St. Gregory Catholic Church, where he was served many years as a deacon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Theresa Filiatreau; two sisters, Marjorie Ann Filiatreau and Janice Marie Filiatreau; and one brother, the Rev. Thomas “Tommie” Filiatreau.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon B. Filiatreau; one daughter, Beth (Jeff) Filiatreau Lear of Bardstown; three sons, Chris (Pam) Filiatreau, Tim (Julia) Filiatreau, and Chad (Jessica) Filiatreau, all of Bardstown; five sisters, Theresa (Sherrill) Jones of Loretto, Edna Boone and Margaret (Phillip) Mattingly, both of Bardstown, Frankie (Rick) Robinson of New Hampshire, and Ann (Scott) Hornblower of Fort Wright; four brothers, John (Elaine) Filiatreau and Pat (Vicki) Filiatreau, both of Bardstown, Paul (Vickie) Filiatreau of Oneida and Bill (Beth) Filiatreau of LaGrange; 11 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at St. Gregory Catholic Church with a private burial at a later date in St. Gregory Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may go to St. Gregory Catholic Church or St. Joseph Catholic Church.
