Storm temporarily floods streets, down trees; flash flood watch continues

Monday, July 4, 2016, 3 a.m. — Sunday evening’s storms brought torrential rains that temporarily flooded several Bardstown streets and pushed creeks out of their banks across the county.
At least one car were temporarily stranded on North Third Street in the area of Zaxby’s when the heavy rains flooded the roadway as a line of storms rolled across the county between 8:30 – 10:30 Monday evening. Additional flooding was also reported in several areas, including the intersection of North Fifth Street and Broadway, on parts of Westwind Trail.
The storm downed numerous limbs and trees across the county, including reports of downed limbs on Pottershop Road and a tree down across Loretto Road near Roby’s Caddy Shack.
Due to possibility of additional thunderstorms and heavy rain through Monday night, Nelson County is under a Flash Flood watch until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
