‘The Wizard of Oz’ opens Thursday at J. Dan Talbott Amphitheater

Tuesday, July 5, 2016, 3 p.m. — “The Wizard of Oz” opens at 8 p.m. Thursday evening at the J. Dan Talbott Amphitheater at My Old Kentucky Home State Park.

ozmainPresented by the Stephen Foster Drama Association and Salt River Electric, this audience favorite will have 10 performances on Thursday and Saturday evenings through Aug. 6.

Join Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, and the Cowardly Lion as they follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City in search of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

“The Wizard of Oz is one of those shows that spans multiple generations of audience members,” according to Billy Bass, the drama’s media coordinator who also plays the role of the Tinman in the stage version of Oz. “The story has touched the hearts of many through television and live performance over the years, and we are absolutely thrilled to bring the characters to life again this summer.”

The Wizard of Oz tickets begin at $20 for adults and $11 for children (ages 6-12). Children 3-5 are $5; those under 2 are free.

Surrounding County Night for the production is July 16, with Nelson County Night taking place on July 21, featuring admission discounts for residents of these counties.
