Obituary: John A. ‘Johnnie’ Mouser, 91 New Haven
John A. “Johnnie” Mouser, 91 of New Haven, died Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at his home. He was a lifelong member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was active in the business community over the years having owned and operated numerous businesses. He began his career working in the liquor business for his father after which he founded First and Last Chance Liquors, and other businesses including “The Greasy Spoon,” Mouser and Coy Automotive, Mouser’s Get N Go, ending with a 40-year career as the founder and operator of Mouser’s Auto Sales.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Verna Lucille Bruner Mouser; three infant children, Terry Arthur Mouser, Mary Martha Mouser and Sherry Martha Mouser; his parents, Adrian and Alice Boone Mouser; three sisters, Alice Marie Mouser, Phoebe Williams and Josephine Spalding; two brothers, J.B. Mouser and most recently, Joe Eddie Mouser.
Survivors include three daughters, Theresa (Mark) Owens of Paducah, Annie (Doug) Shirley of New Braunfels, Texas and Libby (David) Greenwell of Cox’s Creek; four sons, John A. (Carol) Mouser Jr. of Lawrenceville, Ga., Fred (Connie) Mouser and Jerry (Amy) Mouser, both of New Haven and Phillip (Cindy) Mouser of Bardstown; one brother, Barney Mouser of Howardstown;
14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Ken Fortener and the Rev. Chris Lubecke officiating.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, July 8, 2016, and 8-9:15 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Barlow Funeral Home.
