Wednesday, July 6, 2016, 9 p.m. — Bardstown resident Robert Augustine has been named the Nelson County campaign chairman for Sen. Rand Paul’s 2016 re-election campaign.
Wednesday’s announcement from Paul’s campaign staff noted that Augustine is the Republican Party chairman in Nelson County, and he serves as one of Paul’s regional field representatives.
“Dr. Paul has a stellar record of defending the liberties of Kentuckians and Americans against an increasingly growing government,” Augustine said in a campaign press release. “I trust him to uphold and defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights because he doesn’t pick and choose which rights to defend. Rand Paul defends all of them. He does government right, he does government smart, and he has creative solutions for helping people by removing layers of government that impede progress.”
Paul’s re-election campaign will be releasing additional county campaign chairs in the next few weeks, and they encourage those who would like to get involved in the campaign to contact them directly.
“As a doctor for over 20 years, I’ve spent my life diagnosing problems and finding practical solutions to fix them,” Paul said. “Kentuckians elected me to the Senate to do just that – fix the problems plaguing our government, like wasteful spending and burdensome overregulation – and be their voice as we try to return our government to its limited, constitutional scope. I am so grateful for the hard work of those helping me continue my efforts on behalf of Kentucky, and look forward to continuing to stand strong for our Commonwealth, fight for our liberties, and ensure Kentucky always has a representative in the Senate who puts them and their values first.”
