JOHN GORDON STEWART

John Gordon Stewart, 74, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at his residence. He was the son of the late Jesse Gordon and Teresa Blanche Peake Stewart. He was born Jan. 5, 1942, in Louisville. He was a retired employee of Jim Beam Brands, a former employee of Smith Bros. Trucking, and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Jude Stewart.

He is survived by his wife, Karin Jacobs Stewart; two daughters, Veronica Stewart of Bardstown and Sherry (Doug) Young of Springfield; one sister, Carol (Gene) Urbanavage of Louisville; two brothers, Ron (Pamela) Stewart of Lincolnton, N.C., Don (Katherine) Stewart of Lexington, N.C., and four grandchildren, Taylor Stewart, Corey Stewart, Wes Young, and Stewart Young.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. Matthew Hardesty and the Rev. Jim Mudd will celebrate. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Friday.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contribution to Kosair Children’s Hospital or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
