DANNY SINGLETON

Friday, July 15, 2016, 1:20 p.m. (Corrected 2:40 p.m.) — WBRT reported Friday that Danny Singleton, 53, a former employee of Brooks Houck, the boyfriend of a missing Nelson County woman Crystal Rogers, pled guilty to 38 counts of false swearing Friday morning in Nelson Circuit Court.

Prosecutors recommended a sentence of 360 days in jail, and he was sentenced accordingly.

According to Commonwealth Attorney Terry Geoghegan, based on the facts of the case the sentence was appropriate. He told WBRT the Ballard family was aware of the plea negotiations and sentence.

Singleton was indicted in December for perjury — making false statements under oath — during testimony before a Nelson County grand jury on Sept. 16, 2015. The original charges 0f perjury were amended from perjury to false swearing. False swearing is when a individual makes a false statement under oath which he or she does not believe.
