Obituary: Mahalia Ann DeWitt Smith, 60, Loretto, formerly of New Haven

Mahalia Ann DeWitt Smith, 60, Loretto, formerly of New Haven, died Sunday, July 17, 2016, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. funeral_flowerShe born Oct. 18, 1955, the daughter of the late Thomas Edward “Tommy” and Mary Imogene “Ivy” DeMar DeWitt. She was a member of the New Jerusalem Church in Lyons Station and a homemaker. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, niece, sister-in-law and friend.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Steven Ray Smith of Loretto; two daughters, Emily Kaye Smith of Lebanon and Hannah Rae (J.T.) Mattingly of Gravel Switch; one sister, Brenda (Dennis) Brown of Bardstown; three brothers, Larry (Suzanne) DeWitt of Cox’s Creek, Kenny (Cathy) DeWitt and Bobby (Tammy) DeWitt, both of New Haven; and several aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sisters-in-law and friends.

The memorial service is 4 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home Chapel, 167 N. Main St., New Haven with the Rev. Dana DeSpain, pastor of the New Jerusalem Church in Lyons Station, officiating. Burial is in the St. Catherine Cemetery in New Haven.

Visitation is 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of the arrangements.
