Bardstown man indicted Wednesday for possession, distribution of child porn

Wednesday, July 20, 2016, 11 p.m. — A Bardstown man was indicted Wednesday by a Nelson County grand jury on charges he allegedly possessed and distributed child pornography.
Brenton Byrd, 36, of Bardstown, was indicted on 20 counts of possession of matter portraying sexual performance by a minor, and 10 counts of distributing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor.
According to the indictment, on Sunday, April 24, 2016, Byrd was allegedly found in possession of child pornography. The indictment also alleges Byrd distributed the material. Bail was set at $25,000 cash only, plus conditions.
Byrd’s arraignment is set for Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016.
The charges are both Class D felonies, punishable by one to five years in prison.
